GoldPASS to opportunities
From the Spring 2006 Parent Newsletter

Starting this spring, U of M students and alumni have a new tool to aid them in their job, internship, and volunteer opportunity searches. GoldPASS provides a way for students in each college on the Twin Cities campus to see jobs posted at any career services office, giving job seekers and potential employers access to a wider pool of matches.

Becky Hall, central career development coordinator in the University’s provost’s office, explains that under the old system employers had to post job, internship, or volunteer opportunity openings separately with each college. In some cases employers are seeking applicants with a specific degree or skill set, and only students from a particular college would meet their criteria. Often, however, students from several colleges might have qualifications the employer is looking for. GoldPASS makes it easier for employers to reach more potential employees or interns with a single listing, and it gives job seekers access to a wider range of opportunities.

Students are able to post and store their profile and up to five different resumes in GoldPASS’s database. A student can choose to make that information available to employers, who are able to search the database for candidates.
