Late Night? We’re just getting started!
From the Fall 2004 Parent Newsletter

For college students, weekend social activities rarely start before 9 p.m. To fit the late-night schedule of our students, the University has created “Gophers After Dark.” This new program, which begins this fall, will provide quality, affordable after-hours entertainment on Friday and Saturday nights.

Each weekend, activities and programs will be scheduled from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. at Coffman Memorial Union. Students attending Gophers After Dark will find movies, comedy shows, karaoke, psychic fairs, creative crafts, live music, dance lessons, bowling and billiards, and more.

The goal of the Gophers After Dark program is to provide:
  • Opportunities to build a sense of community and a setting for social interaction during weekend nights
  • Hands-on opportunities to gain experience in programming and leadership development
  • A low-cost alternative to other social events
  • A safer, more enjoyable campus environment for students to live, work, and study
Shuttle services will be provided for students on the West Bank
and on the St. Paul campus, and parking will be free for commuters who attend the events.

For more information about Gophers After Dark, visit
the program’s Web site at www.coffman.umn.edu/latenight.
