Kendre Turonie, coordinator for Student and Community Relations in the Office for Student Affairs, says the program’s goal is to plug student renters into a network that will:
  • Help student renters meet their neighbors.

  • Share strategies for working with landlords, neighbors, or roommates.

  • Share information about responsible party hosting, city ordinances, and landlord/tenant rights.

  • Plan social and community service events to enrich the student experience and share information about other neighborhood service opportunities.
The program will identify student renters, through in-person visits and referrals, and recruit people in each neighborhood block to serve as communications liaisons. “These liaisons would in turn reach out to their neighbors to develop stronger relationships early in the year and create a strong foundation for student renter communication in the following year,” says Turonie.
