University of Minnesota parents can help as students are examining career options and beginning the job search. University students are seeking professionals to job-shadow, mentors to talk to about a career, or internship opportunities. Even parents who do not live in the Twin Cities could provide guidance during school break periods or by e-mail or phone calls.

If you would be willing to help, call the Parent Office at 612-626-9291, or e-mail parent @umn.edu.

Here are other ways parents can contribute to the University of Minnesota.

bulletHelp with campus events. Volunteers can talk with parents of new students at events such as Parent Orientation, parent receptions during move-in weekend, and Campus Preview Days. E-mail parent@umn.edu or call 612-626-9291 to volunteer.

bulletLobby for the University. Parents are important partners in generating legislative support for the U of M. Call Mike Dean at 1-800-UM-ALUMS or link to the following Web site: http://www1.umn.edu/groots/index.php.

bulletMake a donation to the University Parent Fund. The fund has been designated to support student development projects and communications initiatives of the University Parent Program.
